Way's steamboat directory photographs, circa 1823-1938.

The Way's Steamboat Directory Photographs depict riverboats, riverboat captains, a map of the Mississippi River from St. Louis to New Orleans (1863), and riverfront scenes of the following cities: Alexandria, La. (1864), Baton Rouge, La. (1872), Natchez, Miss. (1909), and Vicksburg, Miss. (1863-1864). They were acquired from the Steamboat Photo Company of Sewickley, Pa., and selected from Frederick Way's "Directory of Western Rivers Packets" (1950 ed.). An identification key, which corresponds with the numbering system in Way's directory, appears on the reverse of each print.
